Who wrote the sexual script for 18-23 year olds?

Mark Regnerus and Jeremy Uecker explore the sexual scripts of eighteen (18) to twenty-three (23) year olds in Premarital Sex in America: How Young Americans Meet, Mate and Think About Marriage (Oxford, 2011). Their work is a weaving together of interviews and research that describes the sexual scripts young people must navigate in their journey to adulthood. These scripts are radically different than those of their grandparents and parents, and it is for this reason that parents struggle with helping young people navigate this area of life. This is only one reason why, according to the authors, that approximately 84% of unmarried Americans between the ages of 18 and 23 have already had sex. The authors unpack the sexual climate and decision making process in a thoughtful and respectful manner. Anyone working with college students will want to read and mull over the insights of Premarital Sex in America.
